Our History
From Curtain Roadto your next project.
Our story began in 1900, when J. Crispin & Sons opened on Curtain Road in Shoreditch. Veneer knowledge has since passed through six generations of the Crispin family.
After joining Capital Veneer in 2002, we moved to Beckton and then to our present home in Basildon. Today, that experience helps you choose from an extensive stock of veneers, with practical advice from people who know the material.

Sourcing checks & traceability
Every species we purchase undergoes thorough due diligence in accordance with the UK Timber Regulations (UKTR). Individual log identification supports traceability, and we are working towards using geolocation data to identify more precisely where each tree was harvested.
FSC® & PEFC certification
Capital Crispin holds FSC® and PEFC Chain of Custody certification. Certification applies to eligible material supplied with the relevant claim; it does not mean every veneer in our collection is certified.
